Christmas Countdown: An Icy Blue Christmas Wedding

My inspiration for our 13th day of Christmas comes straight from the delicate and wintry color light blue (or as I like to call it…icy blue!) Seeing very pale blue tones at a wedding makes me think snowflakes, icicles, and the month of January but that’s no reason why icy blue wouldn’t make an incredible before Christmas wedding palette.

So we’re thinking outside of the box today with icy blue everything… a wedding gown, a table setting, a bow tie, an engagement ring? (yes, please!), Christmas tree decorations (a Christmas wedding must have a Christmas tree), invitations, bridesmaids dresses, and, well… any other fun details you can think of to make it merry + icy blue for your pre-winter Christmas wedding!

Christmas Countdown: The Centerpiece

On the 14th day of our Christmas countdown, may I suggest some fun and always Christmasy ideas for your wedding centerpiece! For a Christmas wedding, I wouldn’t expect anything less than a Christmas table complete with reds, greens, whites, golds and the occasional pine cone. Your centerpiece can be as big or small, as intricate or as simple as you like but making it reminiscent of Christmas is a must.

Now creating the perfect centerpiece for your wedding is best left in your own hands… so yes, I’m suggesting this be a little DIY project. Think of it like decorating your Christmas tree… it always comes out pretty right? Well… most do. So extend your craftiness (or lack thereof) to a very simple budget-friendly wedding project. Decorate a tiered stand with evergreen and different colored Christmas tree ornaments, then scatter around a few of those same ornaments and some evergreen extending out from the centerpiece (first and forth photos), or make your own vases with white candles surrounded by a bed of evergreen or on a tree stump…add a few sprigs of holly into the mix for some color (fifth and sixth photos) and two more DIY Christmas centerpiece ideas are born…

Happy Christmas wedding DIY-ing…

Christmas Countdown: A Green Christmas Wedding

Our very first Christmas countdown is officially here and I have to admit, I’ve been beside myself with excitement over our 17 days of fabulous Christmas everything wedding related ideas! To kick if off I had to pick a traditional palette, and while I was tempted by the idea of something red I wanted to make a bit more of a statement (don’t we see way too many red Christmas weddings anyway)… so this is it, the green Christmas wedding palette.

Let’s be honest, who does green for Christmas. But this is the problem because green can be lots of different things at a wedding… glam, vintage, modern. The issue is that it’s completely underused which is why I thought it was fitting for our Christmas countdown kick-off! So today is a green Christmas from the bouquet (first photo) and dress (forth photo), to the decorated tree at your reception (second and fifth photos), the jewels (third and sixth photos), the invites (seventh photo), the cake (eighth photo), and last but not least the ring bearer pillow (twelfth photo)… green Christmas wedding ideas galore. On the 17th day of Christmas… green it is. 16 more Christmas wedding ideas to go…

Off the Beaten Path: A Red and Aqua Winter Wedding

Two off the beaten path posts in two days about two totally different wedding related anythings = perfection here! I love off the beaten path ideas for a wedding day because we all want to make our big day our own, and doing things a bit different is the best way to do just that.

So today, our own inspiration for a unique winter wedding! Normally we see lots of whites, plums, blacks, navy’s but today we’re going in a completely different direction… the red and aqua winter wedding! This is such a fun combination for the gutsy bride especially when used in the winter! I am loving the second photo… a mix of red, blush and aqua bridesmaids dresses (pick one or two of each color for the maids), and you can see how we took this one picture and explored the palette idea into the floral pieces, the paper, the food and the fun touches like, yep, you guessed it…macarons (first photo), and this adorable ring bearer pillow (last photo)!

The Winter Wedding Boot

The boot is back today on One to Wed! But since we’re in winter mode these days, today we’ve found some pretty, sexy, and super comfy winter wedding boot picks (and I threw in a pair of wintery shoes to spice things up)!

We’re all looking for ways to show off our amazing shoe collection in our daily wardrobe, a night out, and obviously our wedding day, so this is it! Honestly the sparkles, the something blue, or the really crazy hidden under your dress choices are always fun, but nothing beats a stylish boot for a winter wedding. So whether you’re doing a glam affair (check out the first and tenth photos), taking pictures in the snow (third and fifth photos), want to go a little vintage (sixth photo), or prefer taking the trendy bootlet route (seventh, eighth, ninth and last) these choices are sure to seduce you into choosing a fabulous wedding boot for your winter wedding… but hey, if not, that’s why we threw in that traditional heel…
