The Wonderful Winter Bouquet

A winter wedding is incomplete without a fabulous bouquet to remind your guests of the season and the many beauties of winter. Oh I know, there are just so many choices on the winter floral front…no, really I actually think there are..though most people don’t. First up… the iconic pine cone (third and fifth photos). If I’m being honest, I’ll admit.. not my personal favorite, but it’s fun for the winter especially if you’re going with a rustic theme. As for what I do like (love)… Deep red roses or any other pretty rich red flower are a must but mixing them with light pinks (first and sixth photos) or bringing in pale pink tones paired with light frosty blue-greys (forth photo) is perfect for a winter floral combo that stays true to the season and makes a beautiful statement for your winter celebration.

A Winter Something Blue

As you may know, I have a small obsession with all the something blues floating around the wedding planning world so I couldn’t help myself from devoting a full post to a something blue winter edition. While I love the blue wedding palette, this is not it. Today is just for those little something blues that you may not have thought to incorporate in your winter wedding. Each one is fun and maybe even a little unique, but all are perfect for your winter wedding. We’ve picked a blue photo prop (yes, it’s a blue velour chair – goes perfectly with a snowy landscape), blue bridesmaids dresses, blue macarons, blue mittens, a blue tie for your groom, a blue floral headpiece, a blue cake decoration, and that little something blue in your wedding bouquet…

A Winter Wedding (Dessert) Feast

Today is all about the foods, drinks, and desserts that we love to see at weddings (albeit winter weddings). While you can skip the full Venetian dessert room (let’s face it, it’s not worth it), I’d wholeheartedly recommend not skimping on desserts and other related goodies… I promise, these are the things your wedding guests remember!

On our winter goodies list today…drinks + desserts. Delicious hot drinks are perfect for your “signature drink”. Like what? Try hot buttered rum (yumm – first photo), hot chocolate (third photo), or s’mores in a glass (eighth photo)… works perfectly for an after dinner/before dessert drink. On the dessert side, truffles make for a fun winteresque option (second and seventh photo), or cupcakes…decorate with pretty white lace to make them feel more wintry (fifth photo). For an alternative to the traditional (and massive) wedding cake, try mini rum cakes – a personal favorite (sixth photo), or for a fun twist… meringue pudding anyone (last photo)?

Sparkle into the New Year

Happy 2013 lovely One to Wed readers! Yesterday I couldn’t believe 2012 was ending; today I can’t believe 2013 is beginning! To start the new year off right, and in New Year’s tradition, today is all about the sparkle, glitter and overall dazzle. Time to accessorize for your New Years’s wedding with all things shiny and made of sequins…

On the must-have New Year’s wedding list? The likes of silver glitter bridesmaids dresses, sequin decor – I love the idea of a sparkly table setting, glitter confetti, an embellished wedding gown (a favorite by Monique Lhuillier below), a sequin clutch (a fun choice also below by Betsey Johnson), and of course sparkly pumps for dancing the New Year away…

The Wedding Palette – A Midnight Blue New Year’s Eve

Happy New Year’s Eve! I don’t know about you but I cannot believe that it’s the end of 2012! Wasn’t it just the beginning?? I wanted to do something in the spirit of a New Year’s Eve wedding today and was inspired by my friend throwing her newly engaged brother and soon-to-be sister in law an engagement party yesterday with a midnight blue and silver theme. That got me thinking how I actually do love midnight blue and how it’s well, a perfectly fitting color for NYE for no other reason than it just is!

So I’m doing my own spin on this color palette for a New Years inspiration board of a post. You can put the pieces together but we have a festive blend of fashion (for the girls and boys), decor, floral and some fun touches like these awesome blue agate coasters (last photo)!

Cheers 2013!
