Black… and White

There is nothing that I hate more than tacky black and white weddings. And this is coming from a lover of all black colored items. {I did, for a time have a black bedspread, and was proud of it.} But when it comes to weddings, black and white must never be tacky, elegance is the only {I repeat} only direction to go with this palette. And with that, I present my take on the ultimate black and white wedding accessories/ideas/thoughts in pictures.

Pretty Little White Heels

Is it really only Tuesday? Seems like this one is going to be a long week so for today, just something pretty to cheer you up {or maybe cheer me up}! Pretty in the form of white, yes I said white, wedding shoes! While I can’t say this is the most popular idea in the wedding world because we tend to see more of non-white colors for the bride’s shoes, that doesn’t mean white can’t be right and pretty for your wedding day. So today, it’s our ode to white…

The Wedding Palette – Winter White

Well it’s not often we see white as the main color for any wedding palette but today we’re going white for a true winter celebration! From a snowy landscape for your wedding photos, to white fur on your chairs, “snow-capped” pinecones as an entry table centerpiece, a delicate white birdcage lace veil, or some delicious wintry white signature drinks, all of these touches – plus a few more below can add a little winter to your big (white) day.

The Wedding Palette – Pale Winter

Dreaming of a white wedding? Well, maybe not quite white but if you’re going with a pale color palette (whites, creams, beiges) then why not do it right… that is, in the winter! Let the mood step in and pray for a little snow to add to the beauty of the pale winter palette but even without the luck of mother nature and an outside snowy wedding day photo op, the pale wedding palette can really be lovely for a wintery wedding.

Your guests won’t be expecting it which makes it even more fun, but it’s also refreshing to see the bridesmaids in, say, cream or off-white dresses for a winter wedding (third photo) – you can always choose a shrug as your bridesmaids gift to make sure they don’t… freeze? Fur is always a must for the bride (eighth photo), but if you’re not into this (overused) style… (though still one of my favorites), try a classy jacket like the one in the eleventh photo. This is a bit different than what we’re used to seeing on the winter wedding front, but still as lovely. Moving onto the groom’s fashion, and sticking with the pale theme, I love the casual look of the groom in the third photo. Pairing khaki’s and a beige sweater is perfect for this palette and a laid back winter wedding. And finally the fashion touches… shoes, shoes, shoes! There are plenty of nude heels to pick from, and some of the most fabulous styles at that… but I actually like the simple picks we found today (sixth and ninth photos) for this palette.

And now onto the rest… on the paper front keep everything from the invites (seventh photo), to the menus, place cards and programs in the same pale palette. For the flowers, you can keep these white but add very small touches of color like the bouquet in our tenth photo. And on the food front.. keep the dessert and signature drinks along the same palette lines (this means no red sangria or cranberry martini’s)… stick with things like buttered rum (add extra cream to get it to be a pretty pale color), or an eggnog drink, and finally for the dessert… I’m slightly biased, but yes, I loveeee macarons (fourth photo). They never disappoint, and have become my go-to because in any palette, and nearly any theme these come in handy!

Trend Alert: Whiteout Fall Wedding Ideas

I know, I know… it’s another fall wedding post BUT I promise it’s worthy and it’s nearly the last. Before you know it, we’ll have moved onto winter (and spring!) and then you’ll be pining for the fall days all over again.

Today is all about the trends. I love trend alert posts because I can put a spin on the fun, fashionable, and in style wedding ideas, clothes, decor or anything else! And what I’m thinking on the fall front is white fall everything. Pumpkins, bouquets, candles, bridesmaids dresses and place cards.. at least that’s what I’ve found inspiration from (photos below) but the list goes on. White is the perfect fall trend because it’s unexpected and let’s face it, we all love the unexpected. We normally default to the basic fall colors (because it’s easy), so white for an October wedding? Not likely… What I love about this fabulous fall trend is that you can go with a full white color palette but still ooze fall spirit with white spray painted pumpkins, beautiful and full white bouquets, white (or very light) bridesmaids dresses, and other fun white accessories like centerpieces, “down the aisle” decor, place cards and favors… I could keep going until the winter trends start. The idea is that white is awesome and putting a spin on the traditional fall wedding ideas is even better… so be the first and go white for your fall wedding!
