Christmas Countdown: The Red Details

It’s the 16th day of Christmas wedding ideas and since we chose green for our first Christmas countdown idea, we had to do a little ode to red too… but not quite the full palette, today just the details! Because we realize maybe not everyone who gets married in December wants a red wedding palette, or even likes the color red for that matter, we wanted to highlight how you can incorporate one or two things to make yourself and your guests feel Christmasy and in the holiday spirit without going red overboard.

So our details today include fashion touches like red nails (first photo), ruby drop earrings (second photo), you choose your favorite style of Christian Louboutin’s…it’s the red on the bottom that counts (forth photo), or if you prefer, red heels (eighth photo). If you don’t want to go the red fashion route, on the food front we’ve got red chocolate lollipop favors (third photo), eggnog hot chocolate with a candy cane stirrer (sixth photo), or mini cakes for dessert lined with cranberries (ninth photo). Finally, if you’re looking for something maybe not for the big day, choose a red paper product like these fab invites (last photo).

15 days to go…

Off the Beaten Path: A Red and Aqua Winter Wedding

Two off the beaten path posts in two days about two totally different wedding related anythings = perfection here! I love off the beaten path ideas for a wedding day because we all want to make our big day our own, and doing things a bit different is the best way to do just that.

So today, our own inspiration for a unique winter wedding! Normally we see lots of whites, plums, blacks, navy’s but today we’re going in a completely different direction… the red and aqua winter wedding! This is such a fun combination for the gutsy bride especially when used in the winter! I am loving the second photo… a mix of red, blush and aqua bridesmaids dresses (pick one or two of each color for the maids), and you can see how we took this one picture and explored the palette idea into the floral pieces, the paper, the food and the fun touches like, yep, you guessed it…macarons (first photo), and this adorable ring bearer pillow (last photo)!

New Moroccan Wedding Inspiration

Some of the most memorable wedding palettes come when you combine the right colors with the right themes and for a bold and modern option for our trendy brides-to-be, I can’t get over how “cool” a new Moroccan theme is. So what is new Moroccan? Well, it’s not the traditional patterns and more muted reds, oranges and blues that you think about. It’s a stronger color choice with less patterns. Lots of solid oranges, magentas, reds and purples make up this palette and mix with classic Moroccan pieces (vibrant pillows, sheer draping, traditional lanterns, outdoor tents and low seating) creating a very distinct theme but keeping it modern and stylish all at once…

The Wedding Palette – Red on Red

I absolutely love exploring different wedding color palettes especially ones that are as bold and beautiful as red. There was once a time (not very long ago) when I envisioned my own wedding to be in December…Christmas bells ringing, decorated tree in the corner for pretty pictures, and my lovely bridesmaids in fire engine red. Luckily for them, I’ve personally gotten past the red bridesmaids dresses (although I still love the idea!) and in general I still love lots of red wedding ideas for a holiday or not holiday wedding!

So why a red wedding color palette? Well, for the ladies looking to make a statement, red is as bright as they come and with so many shades to choose from you can even alter just how bold (or not bold) you really want your wedding day to be! And the inspiration for today? Drum roll please… because these red wedding ideas are sure to get you thinking about how much you would love a red wedding color palette as much as I love dreaming about one! We’ve got (in order) a gorgeous red plaid table setting (winter wedding only please!), red velvet cupcakes, an artsy and wonderful red bridesmaids dress, bright red earrings (another Etsy gem), red reception decor, a red bridesmaids dress and clutch, a vintage red chair (and incredible but not red shoes), the wedding bouquet with just a hint of red (for my subtle brides-to-be), the perfect church with the perfect red door, and a weathered, light red chair for extra fun and very red decor!

Happy (red wedding) planning!

Into the Heartland (Country Style)

We’re venturing into the heartland today for some down home country wedding inspiration! When I think of “country” I’m imagining a fabulously rustic red barn reception venue, decor in the form of trucks and tractors, boots, boots, boots and lots of red!! Though I’m not really sure why red comes to mind, it just seems to work, at least for my inspiration!

So if I was planning my own country wedding, this is exactly what it would look like! Today we have a little bit of everything country, from the reds, to the vehicles, the backdrops and the shoes. Starting from the top, mix and match bridesmaids dresses seem only appropriate for a country hoedown and a rusted red background brings out the mild colors making them country-esque (first photo below)! As I may have already mentioned, boots are a must, and these red boots are amazing (third photo)! Who wouldn’t want to hide those under the dress! From the boots to the wedding car… I mean truck? Yes that’s right, it’s a pick-up truck today, because there’s no need for romantic when you can have country! The groomsmen are going with a khaki and the decor and barn wedding venue keep with the red country theme, both outdoors or indoors work (or a little of both) as long as they evoke the feelings of being in the country! So there you have it, into the heartland we go for one of my favorite wedding themes… the beautiful country!
