The Perfect (Spring Wedding) Palette

With Easter just barely behind us, I couldn’t help but channel all of my Easter related wedding thoughts into something other than another post revolving mainly around nests. So instead, I’ve decided to focus on the perfect Easter (and Spring) color palette!

For a wedding this time of year, and especially around Easter, you’ve probably strayed away from the darks… blacks, browns, eggplants, even silver? I’m guessing instead you are juggling a bright palette of colors that you aren’t quite sure how to blend together. The answer? The right colors! Bright spring colors can be used perfectly together with the right palette and today we’re going with three of my favorites, we’ll call them light (but bright) blue, baby pink, and pale orange for lack of the exact color shade names. By blending the pale pink and orange with a sharp and vibrant blue, you can achieve a perfect mix of bright + light + spring all at once. So to do this, make sure there are elements of your wedding where the colors tie in together like the table setting and bouquet below, but that they also stand alone like in your choice of the bridesmaids dress color or for your signature drink!

Destination Bermuda

As promised, since I spent the last few days gallivanting in the sun and not adding anything new and exciting on One to Wed, this week will make up for it as we dive into everything Bermuda! Everyday we’ll take on a new angle of anything wedding + Bermuda because I just can’t seem to shake this little island!

Bermuda is just about the perfect place for, well, just about anything! There is a bit of everything in Bermuda.. it’s a little bit Caribbean, a little bit American, a little British, a little Canadian, a little bit city (think the capital of Hamilton), a lot beachy, and a very lot pink (seriously, the sand has a very distinct pink glimmer to it). All these little bits of everything make Bermuda the perfect destination wedding for so many brides-to-be!

So to officially kick off our very own Bermuda week, I couldn’t help but start by planning your entire destination wedding in Bermuda! I want to differentiate the idea of a “destination wedding” a little bit because I’ve done a few posts now on a “destination inspired wedding” meaning that you can take your dream location and re-create it in your own backyard (or general vicinity). This should not be confused with the real destination weddings we’ll feature on One to Wed! Think real ideas and places that you’ll find in Bermuda and other perfect (or maybe just unique/crazy/fun/cool) wedding locales, not necessarily at home in your own backyard (or town). So how do you start creating your Bermudian destination wedding? The basics of course.

Ceremony + Reception. A perfect wedding dress. Exquisite bridesmaids dresses, and a fabulous pair of pink pearl earrings as the gift for the maids. Pink shoes, pink sand, a pink cake. Okay, this is a lot of pink I know, but a destination wedding in Bermuda would not be complete without some pink finishes!!

I’ll let the pictures do the talking here…

Spring Ahead – Spring Wedding Ideas

Spring…are you there? Well according to daylight savings we have officially crossed the threshold to springtime (at least in terms of sunlight) so I figured we could also “spring ahead” here on One to Wed! So while we count down the final days until the vernal equinox (yes, the real beginning of Spring) I figured I would jump head first into the wonderful spring season. What could you not like about spring? To give you a glimpse of what’s to come, we are preparing a lot of ideas around bright, beautiful colors, April and May weddings and of course everything in between! So don’t think this is all you will see about spring… this is only the beginning.

As I mentioned, although it may not officially be springtime, we sure can dream. So today I’m imagining a springtime wedding at the Swan House in Atlanta, Georgia (check out this incredible mansion below). This (or of course something like it) is the most perfect backdrop for a spring wedding; somewhere with lush greenery and beautiful flowers. I’m envisioning a color palette of light pink (for the bridesmaids of course) and a very light blue/grey/teal for everything else! And by everything I really do mean everything.. this incredible pairing of colors is perfect for the groomsmen (below) as well as the table settings and the pretty blue flowers peeping out of the bouquet. And the wedding dress? White of course to contrast our romantic pink bridal party gowns! Now I think you can go either way with the fabric here… As long as the dress is whimsical and light for the spring I love these two contrasting choices by Monique Lhuillier and Aria. The Bliss by Monique Lhuillier gown emphasizes shape over texture with a clean satin finish beneath the waist but an incredible shape. The Aria dress has a bit more texture, made of silk organza making it the airy, light-hearted option. And what better to finish off our first spring wedding? A dessert bar of course! There are so many options for desserts but why not make it fun without going dessert overboard (for example one fabulous dessert table instead of one full dessert room!) I’m going with the aesthetics here and these dessert bars say a lot in a picture… just imagine how delicious they taste!
