Board {#6} Coral, Grey + Shades of Pink

Pretty in shades of pink plus a little coral and pale grey is what’s getting me out of bed this morning! Lots of colors perfectly {we think} blended together for a bright palette. This is a combination that makes you think twice. Well.. four times? One for each color maybe; because you usually don’t actually see such a variety in one palette – generally it’s just in the bouquet. But this is one thing on the Spring agenda that I think we’ll see a lot more of. Drawing on the idea of ombré anything… (that fading of light to dark on dresses, in bouquets – seriously anything these days) is where the idea for a combination of pinks and a sprinkle of coral came in. The result? Well I’ll let you decide…

The Wedding Palette – Blue-Grey Wedding Bliss

I know I always say this but I love when I almost convince myself to dream of things like having a destination wedding in Paris, or wearing a crazy organza avant-garde wedding gown, or many of the other things that I write about but would never imagine myself doing at my own someday wedding! And today, here we go again… I’m not really a decisive color person. Black is sadly my favorite but I have a soft spot for deep blue and bright orange in home decor and I really like bright colored dresses (but not shirts) so when it comes to the wedding palette, I’m all over the map… and I imagine I’m not the only one who just can’t nail down some color choices.

As you go back and forth between your options, may I suggest you consider one that isn’t really too popular in the wedding circuit but boy is it beautiful! So much that I think I’ve done it again! I’ve sold myself on the blue-grey wedding color palette! As always, with our wedding palettes these are meant to be our own version of the traditional inspiration board; I like to combine different elements of a wedding that are all easy enough to replicate for any bride to be. I’m loving our picks to take us into the weekend and hopefully convince you all how wonderful this palette can be! Some of my favorites… the handcrafted blue-grey wedding invites (third photo), my top choice for a wedding dessert, the macaroon – in a blue-grey tint (sixth photo), a pearl necklace with a little something blue (second photo), an uber-artsy pale blue headpiece (forth photo), blue-grey nail polish for the bride (eleventh photo) and my very favorite… the never-do-you-see-at-a-wedding blue-grey bow tie (thirteenth photo).  The beauties of the blue-grey wedding palette.. anddddd onto the weekend! Enjoy

The Wedding Palette – Elegant Yellow and Grey

When I think of yellow and grey I think Anthropologie, Brooklyn, chevron, hipster and vintage… so where does the wedding palette come in? Well, not sure why exactly, but I definitely am not thinking of classic elegance when the yellow and grey wedding palette pops into my mind… it seems that most of the yellow and grey weddings I see have a beautiful vintage vibe which is why today, I’m trying to think exactly the opposite of everything that “typically” comes to mind. And so we’re going for an elegant yellow and grey wedding palette!

I actually love this combination, but what I don’t love is seeing things like too much chevron (why is it that this pattern is ALWAYS either yellow or grey)? Before I go on… I know, I did make a slight exception with my first photo because this bridesmaids dress and bouquet is fabulous! Anyway, I also don’t like seeing things like yellow dresses and grey stockings (really… this is a wedding), and shoes that somehow combine these colors (very rarely does this work). I also randomly came across a yellow and grey garter… this is a big no no for me… ugh I’ll pass!

So what makes for a classy and elegant yellow and grey wedding palette?

The lighter the yellows the better here. Aside from the awesome bridesmaids dress that I already mentioned and couldn’t resist, I think the less of a mustard yellow the better in terms of making this an elegant palette choice. On the fashion front I’ve kept my other choices very light.. the preppy groomsmen in grey with a beautiful yellow accent boutonniere (second photo), the incredible yellow and white bridesmaids dress (third photo), handmade groomsmen ties from Apple & Ivy’s Etsy shop (love the mix of a bold pattern but light color shades – forth photo), or for the brave grooms, hide some yellow suspenders under that grey suit (fifth photo)! More suspender options in the last photo if you can’t get enough!

Moving onto the paper products… I love the table setting in our sixth photo… the place card is dainty and the “thank you” note is perfectly classic. Picking the right invitation design is key to keeping this palette elegant, so I love the invites in our seventh photo!

And from the paper to the decor, the bouquet (eighth photo) defines my ideas for this palette, incorporating the yellows and greys but keeping it very traditional with roses and other white colored flowers mixed in. Other decor ideas I love… the lovely table setting (eleventh photo), and wrapped boxes for your welcome table or as a centerpiece idea (twelfth photo). Finally, I couldn’t leave out the food… choose a traditional cake as dessert to balance the non-traditional yellow (thirteenth photo), and no wedding is complete without the macaroon (tenth photo)… yellow please, who wants to eat a grey macaroon anyway?

Trend Alert: The Winter Bridesmaid {In Shades of Grey}

With winter quickly approaching, it’s about time to kick off plenty of fun, creative, and always stylish winter posts… I am SO excited about all of the winter wedding ideas swirling around in my mind, so get ready, we’re covering everything from wedding gowns, accessories, fashion, centerpieces, obviously lots of red and green… and of course everything in between.

But today, I’m talking winter trends which is why I couldn’t help but pick shades of grey winter bridesmaids dresses. There is something about grey these days that has girls going wild so why not express your inner grey with some fun and flirty bridesmaids dresses for the maids! Grey is one of my favorite winter wedding colors because you can do so much with it. You can go very light (almost white… what a crazy wedding idea!) which is perfect for the winter season, or slighter darker, a true light grey (I love the dresses in the second photo below). Next up is the edgy blue-grey… if you’re not sold on true grey, blue grey is for you. I love our blue-grey pick today (forth photo below) because this color is a little warmer than our other shades of grey, if that’s more of your style. Moving onto the medium grey to charcoals. How can you not swoon over these lovely picks (first, and sixth photos by Jenny Yoo, third photo by Sarah Seven). And last on our grey spectrum… the navy. Yep, I said it… navy as a shade of grey. I mean it’s in the same family right? And when I think of different greys, blues seem to just blend in which is why I chose these beautiful navy vintage dresses for my last of the grey picks (fifth photo).

But… I’m not done quite yet! My absolute favorite idea and ultimate trend on the bridesmaids front… the mix and match (last photo). Why not let the maids pick their favorite shade of grey, put them all together, and I promise, there will only be fabulousness on this winter trend front!

The Winter Bridesmaid

I can’t believe it’s already Friday and we’re at the end of our Christmas week…although there will of course be much more to come in December!! But to finish things off with a bang, it’s time for some amazing (and artistic) bridesmaids dresses that will leave your guests stunned (but still thinking winter)!

There are so many fun color palettes that can be used perfectly for a winter wedding and since I couldn’t settle on one I am going with a range of purples into silver-greys today! Both scream winter (at least to me) because they are rich but still warm and dark (as opposed to the traditional summery brights!) But the main reason I picked these bridesmaids dresses are because they all have a little something making them special. There’s the more serene and traditional first two photos which have fun shapes (I love the design of the torso and up area). Then there’s the ultra traditional in style (third picture) but the color is so vibrant and different for a winter wedding that it’s hard not to gush over! And then the artsy picks… can you imagine how incredible your bridesmaids would look in any of the dresses in our fourth and fifth pictures?  Incredible!! And finally our last pick, the reason I love these dresses are because they define “the winter gown”. They are long and satin and the absolute perfect purple color for a winter wedding making these and each of our bridesmaids suggestions fun and fancy for winter maids!
