The Wedding Palette – Tiffany Blue

We’ve all dreamed of that little box from Tiffany & Co whether it’s the classic Tiffany necklace, a pair of pearl earrings or maybe even a sparkly ring!

So why Tiffany blue for a wedding (aside from wanting to wear one of their necklaces, earrings or rings)? Well, because it’s fun! Although I admit, the use of “Tiffany Blue” is a bit cliche these days, let’s not let the connotation take away from the actual color! When used in the right color palette (among more muted colors – think off-whites and dulled silvers), it serves as the perfect “wow” color that every wedding desperately needs.

Now you may be asking, what are the right places to incorporate such a vibrant color. There are many muted and loud options, but here are a few of my favorites in pictures (see below)

1. Tiffany & Co. bridesmaids gifts!
2. Your gift card collector (a Tiffany blue painted birdcage)
3. Desserts (an entirely Tiffany blue frosted cake is a bit much so try cupcakes or macaroons)
4. Wedding Invitations
5. Wedding day shoes
6. A touch of Tiffany blue on the garter
7. A little gift for yourself… pearls for your wedding day (from Tiffany’s of course)

So with all these Tiffany Blue ideas, it’s easy to understand why Tiffany & Co has stuck with it’s trademark color for so long… it works!

Au Naturel

Au naturel? Yes, for the wedding at least. With Earth Day right around the corner (it is this Sunday..) I figured it was time to go back to our roots in terms of wedding decor so today it’s all about the all natural – earth tones, outdoor weddings, and even some bark place cards!

Seriously though, greenery is not always a part of our wedding plans (except probably for the pictures) but the outdoors can serve as the perfect backdrop for a ceremony and reception. What is so perfect about the outdoors is that your setting can be dressed up or down accordingly. I love the idea of creating an elegant and romantic “earthy” wedding but styling certain pieces like your table setting as though you were in a glamorous country club (check out the place setting below!) You can also pick long bridesmaid dresses to make the atmosphere more formal (I’m keeping with my brown and green palette today with a beautiful dark brown chiffon dress). Remember to blend your touches of elegance with the outdoors (you are after all planning an outdoor wedding!). Fun ways to keep the atmosphere earthy are with these perfect bark place cards and baby plant favors (both below)! And don’t forget the bridal accessories! Instead of a classic veil or sparkling tiara, why not chose a natural wreath or small flower in your hair. Combine these with some fancier decor and before you know it au naturel will be simply gorgeous.. and just in time for Earth Day!

Destination Bermuda

As promised, since I spent the last few days gallivanting in the sun and not adding anything new and exciting on One to Wed, this week will make up for it as we dive into everything Bermuda! Everyday we’ll take on a new angle of anything wedding + Bermuda because I just can’t seem to shake this little island!

Bermuda is just about the perfect place for, well, just about anything! There is a bit of everything in Bermuda.. it’s a little bit Caribbean, a little bit American, a little British, a little Canadian, a little bit city (think the capital of Hamilton), a lot beachy, and a very lot pink (seriously, the sand has a very distinct pink glimmer to it). All these little bits of everything make Bermuda the perfect destination wedding for so many brides-to-be!

So to officially kick off our very own Bermuda week, I couldn’t help but start by planning your entire destination wedding in Bermuda! I want to differentiate the idea of a “destination wedding” a little bit because I’ve done a few posts now on a “destination inspired wedding” meaning that you can take your dream location and re-create it in your own backyard (or general vicinity). This should not be confused with the real destination weddings we’ll feature on One to Wed! Think real ideas and places that you’ll find in Bermuda and other perfect (or maybe just unique/crazy/fun/cool) wedding locales, not necessarily at home in your own backyard (or town). So how do you start creating your Bermudian destination wedding? The basics of course.

Ceremony + Reception. A perfect wedding dress. Exquisite bridesmaids dresses, and a fabulous pair of pink pearl earrings as the gift for the maids. Pink shoes, pink sand, a pink cake. Okay, this is a lot of pink I know, but a destination wedding in Bermuda would not be complete without some pink finishes!!

I’ll let the pictures do the talking here…

The Wedding Palette – Shades of Green

In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, I’m devoting all my energy to the color green today! It’s not every year that St. Patrick’s Day rolls around on a Saturday so I can only imagine how many green themes/palettes/accessories will be used to celebrate in the wedding world! Green is such an underused color it terms of, well, everything! Aside from nature, green is always overshadowed but today (and tomorrow) it takes front and center. There are so many lovely shades of green (think forest, kelly, lime, pond, hunter, jungle… you get the hint) so what better way to honor the man himself (Saint Patrick that is) than to highlight an entirely green wedding palette! When there are so many shades of green to choose from, and they blend so effortlessly together, there is really no need for any other colors (except maybe white for the bride…)

So as for the below, we’re sticking to anything and everything green with this satin bridesmaids dress which is simple and glamorous, four different bouquets (yes four… they were too special to choose only one so you can get creative and vary the shades you are using for each of your bridesmaids), two incredible table settings (in different shades of green of course), some (hopefully inspirational) ideas for a “green” ceremony and reception… these ivy colored spaces serve as incredible locations for a unique ceremony and traditional but awesome reception. And to top it off? Dessert of course! I’m bypassing the urge for an entirely green cake here so instead we’ll just add a bit of green as a dessert accessory on top of the cake…

Happy St. Patty’s Day!

Dreaming of a wedding in Paris…

Need inspiration for the perfect destination wedding? You’ve probably already gone through the list of options. Ever think about Paris?

After an inspiring trip to Paris myself, I can think of no better, more romantic city to have as your wedding destination. From the scenery and sites, to the incredible churches (think Notre Dame), the elegant architecture, and of course the fashion, Paris offers everything you could want for a destination wedding and more (except maybe a beach, the ocean and some palm trees).

So today I’m picking a few of my favorites for your destination wedding. I love the idea of a midnight blue based palette. The color exudes both chic and grace and seems to just scream “Paris”! I LOVE these blue dresses for the bridesmaids; they are stylish but not over the top; perfect to complement our bridal pick. Speaking of over the top, the wedding gown may be a bit much, but hey, it’s Paris! To accessorize the dress, I’m throwing in some glitter; if you look closely there is even a little sparkle in the dress already.

Moving on, I am dying to be at a reception at this incredible “palace”. The gold is royal and decadent and I’m imagining out the window I’ll be seeing all of these sites of Paris…

But of all things I love most about Paris, my favorite? The colorful macaroons of course!  Enjoy..
