Black… and White

There is nothing that I hate more than tacky black and white weddings. And this is coming from a lover of all black colored items. {I did, for a time have a black bedspread, and was proud of it.} But when it comes to weddings, black and white must never be tacky, elegance is the only {I repeat} only direction to go with this palette. And with that, I present my take on the ultimate black and white wedding accessories/ideas/thoughts in pictures.

Art Deco Inspired

Because I couldn’t kick the recent revival of art deco in part driven by The Great Gatsby, and even though I already put together this little inspiration board, I wanted to think a bit more on the theme… but this time with less emphasis on flashy gold accessories. So you may find this to be a muted version of our Great Gatsby board but hopefully more “useable” as mainstream wedding ideas!

Happy Thursday!

Trend Alert: A Black Spring Wedding

As Friday {finally} rolls around it’s way past time for the weekend! And we’re ending the first week in April on a high note with a fun trend for a spring wedding… a black color palette! You heard it right, a black color palette! I especially gush over this idea when it’s black for a garden wedding; there is something about the combination of garden and the elegance of black details… from a black chalkboard welcome sign or menu, a black cake, a black wedding gift card collector, I think you get the idea. Happy Friday!

Christmas Countdown: The Red & Black Palette

On the 11th day of Christmas…we decided to spice things up with a non-traditional spin on a Christmas wedding palette.. Red and black! Because who chooses red and black for Christmas? But why not! If you don’t want to be Christmas over the top, there are plenty of ways to make your guests feel a part of the holiday season without throwing them over the Christmas edge. And one way is by incorporating a bit of the typical Christmas color palette but putting your own spin on it. This doesn’t have to be red and black, it could be practically red or green paired with anything. The key is to have a hint of the holiday season but not an overboard holiday wedding.

So to spread some cheer today, our red and black wedding palette includes pretty touches like a bouquet with hints of red and black (try poppies – they make for a beautiful surprise bouquet)  – first photo, a red and black paper scheme including the menu cards, and invites – a few different choices below – second, third, fifth, eighth, ninth, and tenth photos, some fashionable touches… ruby red earrings – forth photo, flashy red heels – sixth and eleventh photos and last but not least… a red and black boutonniere for the groom – seventh photo!
