With winter quickly approaching, it’s about time to kick off plenty of fun, creative, and always stylish winter posts… I am SO excited about all of the winter wedding ideas swirling around in my mind, so get ready, we’re covering everything from wedding gowns, accessories, fashion, centerpieces, obviously lots of red and green… and of course everything in between.
But today, I’m talking winter trends which is why I couldn’t help but pick shades of grey winter bridesmaids dresses. There is something about grey these days that has girls going wild so why not express your inner grey with some fun and flirty bridesmaids dresses for the maids! Grey is one of my favorite winter wedding colors because you can do so much with it. You can go very light (almost white… what a crazy wedding idea!) which is perfect for the winter season, or slighter darker, a true light grey (I love the dresses in the second photo below). Next up is the edgy blue-grey… if you’re not sold on true grey, blue grey is for you. I love our blue-grey pick today (forth photo below) because this color is a little warmer than our other shades of grey, if that’s more of your style. Moving onto the medium grey to charcoals. How can you not swoon over these lovely picks (first, and sixth photos by Jenny Yoo, third photo by Sarah Seven). And last on our grey spectrum… the navy. Yep, I said it… navy as a shade of grey. I mean it’s in the same family right? And when I think of different greys, blues seem to just blend in which is why I chose these beautiful navy vintage dresses for my last of the grey picks (fifth photo).
But… I’m not done quite yet! My absolute favorite idea and ultimate trend on the bridesmaids front… the mix and match (last photo). Why not let the maids pick their favorite shade of grey, put them all together, and I promise, there will only be fabulousness on this winter trend front!
Well here at One to Wed, we are well past due for a post devoted to our grooms! So today, we’re hoping to overcompensate for the lack of groom-related fashion, discussion and everything groom pretty with one of our favorite ideas for the groom and groomsmen that is just in time for the end of summer.. the khaki suit!
We know you will love this too even if you were always set on The Classic Tux because this style is perfect for the spring, summer, or fall, plus it’s casual, relaxed, and ultra trendy. And my final gush factor; the groomsmen always look SO good… trust me, you cannot go wrong with khaki.
So for today, just some inspiration because we realize there are too many khaki styles and combinations to go through one by one. We’re hoping one of these will catch your eye and capture your wedding style!
There is a first for everything and today is our very first post devoted to bridal shower ideas and our kick-off for a new series: Bridal Shower Etiquette! So it seemed fitting to start with one of the basics this time as far as themes go (etiquette ideas to come later), and what could be more traditional than a bridal tea!
Now this may not be for everyone, but there are so many fun ways to create a bridal tea that fits your bride regardless of her style. For the vintage bride, the rustic bride, the traditional bride (or any other bride for that matter) adding a piece of china here and there as decoration, using china cups as a “bridal shower sign-in” (all the girls sign a cup for the bride to keep), serving soup or dessert in a cup, using a tea pot as a centerpiece, making your own dessert trays using old china, or creating place settings with a full china set (I prefer the mix and match sets that you find at little second hand shops), each of these are budget friendly and unique ways to build on the very basic tea party theme while creating your own version of the tea that fits the bride!
We love trend alert posts because these are always up and coming and fun wedding ideas or fashion trends! Since I seem to always find myself bored of the “typical” bridesmaids dresses (and because our trend alert on the bridesmaids skirt was so popular last week), we figured it’s time for another refreshing bridesmaids trend… this time it’s a mix and match approach to dressing your maids with many multi-colored dresses!
This is honestly one of my favorite ideas as far as how to make your wedding style unique. We’ve all seen the standard dress choices with the same color and style for all 20 of your bridesmaids, but really… this can be boring!! Pictures surprisingly seem to come out SO much better when your party is dressed in variations of different dresses, colors or styles altogether. If you aren’t comfortable with the mix and match bridesmaids dress approach, you can always tone it down by picking the same color but different style dresses. This way you have some variation but everyone looks like they are at least wearing something that fits into your bridal party! I personally think an all out mix and match makes the perfect impression but whatever you decide, mixing and matching will give depth to your bridesmaids dress choices and (imagine this), the maids may even like their dresses!
Yes I said it… the bridesmaids skirt (not to be confused with the bridesmaids dress)! Please.. if you aren’t already sick of seeing the same bridesmaids dresses over and over again on instant replay, snap out of it! There are so many more fun, unique and bold options out there when it comes to dressing the maids, so do yourself (and them a favor) and pick some pretty dresses (I mean skirts)…
So what is the bridesmaids skirt exactly? Well, for the creative and crafty brides among us, they’ve already found new and exciting ways to spice up the normal wedding wardrobe and ditch the satin, chiffon and overall blandness that comes with most mainstream bridesmaids dresses. The answer is the skirt! Simply a pretty skirt paired with a top is all we’re talking about here. It’s stylish and affordable and will undoubtedly have your guests talking about what a fun twist on the tradition this is! Now since I know more than anyone that it’s always hard to break tradition, I’m hoping these fun finds will inspire even the most doubtful brides!
