Styled Shoot at Bread and Chocolate

I was completely swooning over this style shoot by Sj2 Photography when I first saw it and just knew I had to have it here on OTW. Set at Bread and Chocolate this {real} couple got dressed up for a perfect shoot filled with pretty details and lots of love.

From Sj2 Photography: It was a pleasure to work with a past wedding couple of mine to create these beautiful images. They were so amazing to work with. The bride, Rachel, brought her beautiful lace wedding dress. I created the delicate flower crown to add a little extra to her look. I found the tulips at a local grocery store and I love the simplicity of just draping it over her arm instead of creating a bouquet. I found the sequins fabric cover at a fabric store and created a table cover for our shoot. I feel like the gold sequins made the cake and the colors of the flowers pop. And of course the brick background added the perfect backdrop. These are perfect ideas for indoor weddings receptions and ceremony.

Vintage Styled {Summer} Shoot

I love when I stumble across gorgeous styled shoots that just about convince me they aren’t just a shoot and this one did just that. Captured by Gigi Hickman Photography this shoot was set in Washington’s wine country and was complete with whimsical details; balloons, pastels, a champagne cart, a floral dog collar and of course my personal favorite, macaroons!

There is something vintage, delicate and very pretty about this shoot all rolled into one making it one of those, {I want that for my wedding} moments!

Trend Alert: Floral Crowns

We are long overdue for some accessory inspiration and for May, I couldn’t think of anything better than the floral crown {or halo}…

Historically, we may not see it as often as, say, the traditional veil or even the birdcage veil but that’s what makes it even more special! Perfect for a Spring wedding, an outdoor affair, or better yet, a garden ceremony, a floral crown can serve as that rustic, earthy, elegant or just unique accessory that you {the bride} or maybe even the flower girl (sixth photo below) can pull off magically!

2013 Spring Wedding Trends

Hellooo spring? Where are you? Obviously nowhere near Manhattan that’s for sure… we still have icicles, winter coats, and the occasional flurry. But that’s not stopping any of the exciting and fabulous spring wedding ideas we have coming your way! And it feels like the best way to start is a round up of a few of the spring trends. I gathered a little of this and a little of that from what we’re seeing in spring weddings, fashion, and of course the blogging world to come up with my own list of 8 top trends. But my list is a little different because I didn’t want a bunch of random thoughts; instead I wanted a cohesive list of spring trends and how you can incorporate them into one wedding (yes, all of the trends in one!)

1. {Mint} Well mint and other pastels, but for me, mint tops the list. So a palette of mint it is
2. {Cactus} What? Yep, that’s right the fabulous cactus. These can be used as centerpieces, favors, or pretty decor, but trust me they work (second and ninth photos)
3. {Lace – used discreetly} Let’s be honest lace is a bit overused but one way to make it more trendy is to use it in a unique way. Case and point; these adorable wedding invites (third photo)
4. {Adorable invites} Speaking of invites, one big trend this year is small business, homemade items so why not get on the bandwagon; there are plenty of options out there that are affordable, creative and very cute (third and forth photos)
5. {Flats} These are popular on the runway so I’m thinking we’ll be seeing more fun options for wedding shoes led by the popular flat (love these loafers, fifth photo – they may be for the groom but they are technically still “flats”, and the J Crew ballet slippers, thirteenth photo)
6. {Tea Cups} These are definitely on the way back along with everyone’s love of vintage; I’m guessing dainty tea cups are going to be a big and wonderful part of weddings this year (sixth photo)
7. {Outdoor Lounge} One of my personal favorites and a big trend in 2013 so far, pretty obvious why these are so popular- because they are so cool! (seventh photo)
8. {Family Style Tables} The round table is out, family style long and very fun tables are in (eighth photo)

Happy Spring!

A Winter Tablescape

It’s about time to get back to winter.. I keep reminding myself that it’s still January but with the crazy temperature swings over here in NYC who knows these days (tomorrow is supposed to hit almost 60?!?) So, the winter wedding tablescape? Well aside from all being pretty, there really isn’t one table setting style these days. Weddings have surpassed themselves in ever stylistic sense, so while there may be more of a “traditional winter table setting” your winter tablescape can still be everything pretty without being traditional. Today I picked a few that scream winter to me… Lots of silvers, greenery, sparkles and lace and even some chevron mixed into some traditional, others modern and lots of rustic ideas.
